ROYALS SHINNY Monday April 28 @ Confederation 9:30. All Royalamainiacs welcome.

What a season. We had everything, from spectacular goals to both goalies getting hurt in the same game - and that also means spectacular goaltending from our only 21 year old Brad Dufresne. We needed to play some more to get our southern Royalamainiacs into some games, but we fell short. The Westerns is our goal every season, so when we don't make it there (to win), the disappointment is huge. This was a very unique group and one that changed greatly both from last season and as our season progressed, yes injuries played a big part in that, but not as an excuse. The day to day battle to improve has to have that same will and desire from everyone involved. We will be better and give the Royalamainiacs a longer season to cheer. Our battle starts today.

Well that's it, another season of Royals Hockey is over, way to soon. As we fell 2-5 to the Hawks in the 5th and deciding game. Chad Coulumbe and Pat O'Neill both scored on 1st period breakaways and Chad sent Pat in for our only assist of the game. Shots 33-40, PP 0-5 and PK 1-2. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Tyler Russell. (8).

That didn't go as planned 1-3 in Game 4. Altan Kudrinko scored our only goal from JF Royer and Simon Goodall. Shots 32-29, PP 0-6 and PK 1-9. We became a team that couldn't find our focus and wanted to talk about it instead of acting on it. Nobody to blame but ourselves, but there is light at the end of the night. 'We get to keep Playing'. Let's take advantage of this opportunity on Sunday. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Jacob Kalinowski. (8).

G.F.E. Are some very wise words from Coach Russ and we did - 6-4 in Game 3. For the first time in the series we didn't have a player score a hattrick, Pat O'Neill got us going in the 2nd and Justin Hofmann (2), Connor McCreadie (I thought it was tipped), Ryan Rosich and Chad Coulombe into the empty net. Assisting the goals Justin Hofmann, Mitch Cunninham (3), Pat O'Neill (2), Mik Mykietyshyn and Chad Coulombe (2). Shots 37-40, PP 3-6 and PK 7-8. It was a funny game, with lots of non calls and mystery calls and that is probably why the goals and assists look so off. But we went out to get a win and were successful. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Rob Ogle. (8).

This was the result we wanted 6-4 in Game 2. Lyndon Maldaner scored our first 3 goals, Mik Mykietyshyn scored 2 shorthanded goals and Pat O'Neill got the other. Assisting the goals Ryan Rosich (2), Andy Fox, Mik Mykietyshyn, Mitch Cunninham (2), Connor McCreadie, Zac Laiss and Lyndon Maldaner. We played a fast complete game and were hard to play against. We love the way playoffs bring out the Royalamainiacs to the games and down to the dressing room after. It's that kind of support that gives the boys an extra lift. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Mitch Patter. (9).

The game started the way we wanted (4-0 after the 1st) then bad things happened and we lost Game 1, 4-7. Mik Mykietyshyn scored a hattrick with Lyndon Maldaner the other. Assists to Justin Hofmann (3), Connor McCreadie, Mik Mykietyshyn, Andy Fox and Lyndon Maldaner. Shots 32-57, PP 2-7 and PK 5-7. We must have thought it would be to easy, because when they pushed back we didn't step up and push back. We Will. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Matt Koebel. (10).

Game 2 started with a bang 19 seconds in when we scored our 1st in our 6-3 series clinching game (2 games to 0). Justin Hofmann (2) scored that quick goal, Lyndon Maldaner, Matt Cooper, Chad Coulombe and Mik Mykietyshyn. Assists to Chad Coulombe (2), Pat O'Neill (2), Connor McCreadie, Connor Farquhar (2), Mitch Cunningham (2), Simon Goodall, Bryce Kneller and Ryan Rosich. Shots 47-43, PP 0-5 and PK 4-5. A big loud bunch of Royalamainiacs were given a good show by the boys. Speed, sweet plays, hits and passion. To our Mexican Royalamainiacs click on the Twitter icon to the left to get an earlier game result. Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Marc Devaney. (10).

Game 1 came off as planned - we skated to a 10-2 victory out in Wetaskiwin. Justin Hofmann (2) got us going, then 12 seconds later Chad Coulombe scored his 1st of 3, Pat O'Neill (2) Mik Mykietyshyn (2) and Kevin Bain ended it. Assisting the goals (on the game sheet, because there were so many wrong guys credited with goals I don't know how accurate it is, Pat O'Neill, JF Royer, Justin Hofmann (2), Connor McCreadie (2), Chad Coulombe (2), Mik Mykietyshyn, Ryan Rosich, Lyndon Maldaner, Tyler Heddle, Matt Cooper and Mitch Cunningham. Shots 51-46, PP 2-11 and PK 9-10. We were flying and kept skating through everything. Shuks made a very timely stop on a Penalty Shot late in the 1st that kept our momentum going. It was a nice Valentine's Day present to all those Royalamainiacs who made the drive (and didn't get lost on the way out). Our Write-In Royalamainiac was Tyler (Gary) Mckitrick. (11).

Overtime was not needed as we skated to a 10-3 win over the Mustangs. Goals from Lyndon Maldaner (2), Mik Mykietyshyn, Mitch Cunningham (2), Altan Kudrinko, Simon Goodall (1st Royal goal), Ryan Rosich (2) and Kevin Bain. Assists to Ryan Rosich (3), Mik Mykietyshyn (4), Andy Fox, Pat O'Neill (2), Justin Hofmann, Connor McCreadie (3), JF Royer, Kevin Bain, Matt Cooper, Mitch Cunninham, Fraser Oliver and Ryan Rosich. Shots 43-33, PP 3-3 and PK 3-4. That was a good way to end the regular season, lots of speed, scoring, hits and incredible backchecking. Let the fun start as we look towards our goal of 12 CJHL Playoff Wins.

We win in OT 5-4 over the Bruins. Mik Mykietyshyn scored the winner 4 minutes into OT to complete his hattrick and Justin Hofmann got the other 2. Assists went Simon Goodall (1st Royal point), Shaun Comrie {yes I have spelt it wrong all season}, Ryan Rosich, Lyndon Maldaner, Pat O'Neill (2) and Chad Coulombe. Shots 45-49, PP 1-2 and PK 1-1. Who was to know 1.1 seconds were important - (Coach Russ THAT'S WHO) 60-60-60. Winning is cool. Lets get in that habit.

First entries in #raht2014 - 'All Stars' {2nd Place}, 'Hands Guys', 'New Guys', 'Samoan Silverbacks', 'Team Bonus' {Champions} Davy and Scott, 'Diamond Dogs', 'Guys in Skates', 'Team Workout', 'Rebels', 'Team Late'.

Well that sucked - 1-7 to the Merchants. Mik Mykietyshyn scored on a breakaway from Chad Coulombe and Mitch Cunningham. Shots 22-40, PP 0-3 and PK 2-3. It was 1-0 after the 1st and we gave up a goal with 5 seconds to go in the 2nd to go down 1-2 and then nothing as they skated hard to our net and finished. There were a lot of good things we did and hopefully we learnt some important lessons.

Sorry for the late update, sometimes we get to busy for the fun stuff. We shot our way to the win 7-5 over the Riggers. Both Lyndon Maldaner and Mik Mykietyshyn had hattricks and Ryan Rosich the winner. Assist to Connor McCreadie (2), Ryan Rosich (3), Mitch Cunningham (2), Lyndon Maldaner, Mik Mykietyshyn and JF Royer. Shots 43-43, PP 5-11 and PK 3-5. We scored 5 goals in the last 9 minutes to get the victory, that kind of says the first 51 minutes kind of sucked, and that would be true. But the bottom line is that we play for the top line and earning 2 points, which we did.

It was a close checking hard skating game with a bad result 2-3 to the Chiefs. Lyndon Maldaner and Ryan Rosich scored our goals from Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Ryan Rosich and Lyndon Maldaner. Shots 28-23 {our lowest shots against of the season, so far}, PP 2-4 and PK 4-4. We played a pretty good playoff type of game and need to keep our skates going hard to the scoring areas. On a side note everybody who started the game finished the game, even if 3 guys had to take a short break.

The short benched Royal skate to a 5-1 win against the Flyers. With his buddy's in the stands Lyndon Maldaner (2) started the scoring, Matt Cooper, Connor McCreadie and Kevin Bain the others. Assisting the goals Ryan Rosich, Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Connor McCreadie, JF Royer, Matt Cooper, Justin Hofmann (2) and Tyler Heddle. Shots 30-29, PP 1-2 PK 0-0. With that few penalties you would have thought it was a boring, just going through the motions, kind of game. Well, you would be wrong. Everyone was very tired at the end and both smiling and happy.

On a night were things could have been different, they weren't, we lose 7-8 to the Regals. Putting the puck in the net wasn't a problem as, Mik Mykietyshyn, Bryce Obrigewitch, Lyndon Maldaner, Ryan Rosich, Connor McCreadie and Justin Hofmann (2), proved. With assists to Ryan Rosich (2), Lyndon Maldaner (2), Connor McCreadie, Mik Mykietyshyn (3), Mitch Cunninham, JF Royer, Pat O'Niell and Bryce Obrigewitch. Shots 42-33, PP 0-4 and PK 3-5. If we would have spent our energy on making sure we were ready to compete for 60 and supporting our teammates through both good and bad, the score would have been a lot better.

Royals win 9-2 over Wetaskiwin. Playing for 60 is nice. Ryan Rosich got the scoring started, then Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Mitch Cunninham (1st as a Royal in his 1st game), Lyndon Maldaner, Connor McCreadie, Justin Hofmann, Matt Cooper (1st as a Royal) and Altan Kudrinko. Our assists went to Tyler Heddle, Mik Mykietyshyn (5), Mitch Cunninham (3), Lyndon Maldaner, Fraser Oliver, Matt Cooper, Ryan Rosich (2), Connor McCreadie, Pat O'Neill, Justin Hofmann and JF Royer. Shots 50-43, PP 2-8 and PK 3-4. We did a lot of things the right way. Our lineup changes so much every day that it is a strong testament to the character of the boys to keep overcoming, but most importantly improving. Never be satisfied.

The long drive out to was successful as we skated to a 5-3 win over the Icemen. Pat O'Neill, with the hattrick lead the way (although only 2 made it to the game sheet), Lyndon Maldaner and Connor McCreadie the others. I don't think the guys in stripes paid attention to the goals and assists very much, but this is what the sheet says, Matt Cooper (2), Bryce Kneller, Mik Mykietyshyn (2) and Ryan Rosich {I changed his goal to Pat}. Shots 32-39, PP 2-6 and PK 4-4. Zac played great in his last AP game as well as the whole defense. We moved pucks out of our zone very smartly. We forgot about playing physical in the 2nd period but fixed that and kept them to the outside in the 3rd. Those new defensemen have been doing a great job.

A couple of big Congratulations go out to ROYALS - Mik Mykietyshyn and Connor McCreadie for being selected to play in the CJHL League All-Star game Saturday January 18 @ Wetaskiwin 4:30 game time. Also to Bryce Kneller, Ryan Rosich and Andy Fox for being selected to play in the CJHL Rookie All-Star game 1:30 game time.

We lost 4-6 to the Warriors. Ryan Rosich scored a hattrick and Kevin Bain got the other. Assists to Lyndon Maldaner, Mik Mykietyshyn (3), Connor McCreadie, Justin Hofmann (2) and Shawn Comrie. Shots 32-44, PP 2-8 and PK 4-6. We were a little short handed because of injuries, sickness and suspensions but had our PP chances in the 3rd but didn't score. We might work on breakaways next practice.

Oh ya looks like there is going to be a Mrs. Elkow in the future, he didn't give us a date. But after checking him out a little closer, maybe it should be sooner rather than later. CONGRATULATIONS FROM ALL THE ROYALAMAINIACS!!

What a story of 3 periods in our 3-5 loss to the Red Wings. It was 0-0 1st period of fast hockey, 0-5 2nd period, that we didn't look like we wanted to play after we left our dressing room, then 3-0 3rd period when it got back to being focused and fast. (Boy there were some interesting calls and non calls by all 3 whistles). Justin Hofmann started the scoring and Mik Mykietyshyn and Shawn Comrie, assisting the goals were Lyndon Maldaner (2), Ryan Rosich and Andy Fox. Shots 42-40, PP 0-5 and PK 1-3. It might look like special teams were the difference, (they scored 2 and we didn't get any) but I'm not sure it was that simple. We did a lot of very good things, but lost focus at critical times and that ended up in our net.

A late and short report on the loss to the Knights 3-7. Ryan Rosich started the scoring with Mik Mykietyshyn getting 2, assists to Lyndon Maldaner (3), Connor McCreadie and Ryan Rosich (2). Shots 31-51, PP 1-3 and PK 2-6.

Our Christmas party was another epic event. It could have used a couple more Round Belly's but they missed out. Who knew we had such great singers and dancers on the team.

We played a stinker just before the Christmas break with a 4-7 loss to the Mustangs. Kevin (#handsguy) Bain started the scoring with a bullet from the point, then Justin Hofmann (2) and Ryan Rosich finished it. Lyndon Maldaner (2), Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Kevin Bain and Connor McCreadie set the goals up. Shots 40-38, PP 2-6 and PK 3-4. 'Don't get old and forget things' That's the way the night started for me. Our intensity was non existent in warm-up and that's how we played the game, oh that and we thought we could do it all our selves, or we thought blaming our teammates would make them better. Not a fun night. Except for the old guy Royalamainiacs who made it out to the game. "Mele Kalikimaka me ka" and have a "Hau'oli Makahiki Hou" from all of us to all of you. See you when we get back 'with a tan'

Plan a 'Room de Royal' and win a game, check and check, as we skated to a 8-5 win over the Bruins. Ryan Rosich got the 1st of his 3 goal night (all on the PP) to start the scoring, then Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Justin Hofmann, Pat O'Neill and Bryce Kneller rounded out the goals. Assists to Mik Mykietyshyn (3), Lyndon Maldaner, Kevin Bain (2) [#handsguy], Ryan Rosich, Connor Farquhar (2), Bryce Kneller, Pat O'Neill, Justin Hofmann (2), Connor McCreadie and Andy Fox. Shots 53-44, PP 5-9 and PK 3-5. We played well and over came an early ejection, and stayed focused. Lots of battles by a team trying to slow us down, but just couldn't. It was good to see that the turkey's didn't get out of their cages before the Turkey Toss (at the end of the 2nd period), they can really make a mess. The Room de Royal was full of smiles and cat food. We played for the top line and we sucked up allot of crap to earn it, 2 points is what it was all about.

It got ugly late, 2-11 to the Hawks. Pat O'Neill and Justin Hofmann (his 1st as a Royal) scored our goals, from JF Royer and Matt Cooper. Shots 30-44,PP 0-5 and PK 5-9. Our team lacked discipline and focus, then let down our goalie with confused play in front of him. Just ugly, but it was 2-4 after 2 and we can still win ugly games with focus and discipline.

When you get over 60 shots good things happen and it did as we won 94 over the Riggers. Both Pat O'Neill and Lyndon Maldaner scored hattricks with Kevin Bain, Ryan Rosich and Connor Farquhar the others. Assists to Connor McCreadie (3), Pat O'Neill (2), Andy Fox (2), Shaun Comrie, Justin Hofmann, Bryce Kneller (2), Connor Farquhar, Mik Mykietyshyn, Fraser Oliver (2) and Lyndon Maldaner. Shots 66-36, PP 5-8 and PK 2-6. The only thing wrong was the goofy goals we gave up on the PK, well maybe the goofy whistle blower. Lots of speed and hits, fun game. We need to stay intense.

We wanted the 2 points when we lazily put on our equipment and earned them with a 4-3 OT win over the Jets. Pat O'Neill scored the winner on the PP, with Lyndon Maldaner and Ryan Rosich (2) scoring in regulation time. Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Pat O'Neill, Bryce Kneller, Connor McCreadie and Lyndon Maldaner (2) set the goals up (Mik might have had another in OT. Shots 46-32, PP 2-8 and PK 6-6. It wasn't our prettiest game but it was 2 points and that's why we play the games. Aloha.

Tight tight hockey game that we pulled out the victory in the Shoot Out 3-2 over the Chiefs. Mik Mykietyshyn and Pat O'Neill scored in regulation then Ryan Rosich and Shawn Comrie in the Shoot Out, Graham stopped 4 of 5 shots. Assists to Connor McCreadie, Ryan Rosich, Shawn Comrie and Bryce Obrigewitch. Shots 27-32, PP 1-5 and PK 4-4. Lots of speed and smart play but our bench was outstanding and kept us in the game all night. The boys were never satisfied and dug deep for 65.

Well that wasn't the result we were looking for as we fell 2-4 to the Knights. Pat O'Neill scored a beauty to get us going and Mik Mykietyshyn on the PP the other, with assists to Graham Kowalchuk, Andy Fox and Ryan Rosich. Shots 36-36, PP 1-6 and PK 4-5. We are still growing and growing up, but that was a very winnable game and we need to take advantage of these opportunities. There were Side Show Bob and Coach Russ sightings at the game, that put a smile on everybody's face. Our message doesn't change but we may need to clean out some ears.

It took killing a penalty in OT, a sweet move in the Shoot Out and 3 saves by Graham, but we came home with the 2 points with a 4-3 victory. Ryan Rosich started the scoring with linemates Mik Mykietyshyn and Lyndon Maldaner getting the others. Shawn Comrie, Lyndon Maldaner, Andy Fox, Mik Mykietyshyn and Ryan Rosich assisted the goals. With Mik the only person to score in the shoot out - for either team. Shots 43-43, PP 1-6 and PK 3-4. There were some amazing calls and non calls that kept everybody on their toes. But the good guys stayed focused (great job Connor) on the top line and we got the win. Since we are heating up our play a bit I think the temperature outside should follow.

We made the messy drive out to play the Hawks and slipped away with a 7-5 solid win and Graham's 1st as a Royal. Lyndon Maldaner started the scoring and the 2nd and the 3rd goals, nice hat trick, Pat O'Neill, Tyler Heddle, Altan Kudrinko and Bryce Kneller. Assisting the goals Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Connor McCreadie (2), Zac Laiss (2), Pat O'Neill, Andy Fox and Bryce Kneller. Shots 36-37, PP 2-4 and PK 4-6, Well wasn't that an interesting way to referee a game. We didn't let anything get to us and we stayed focused, that was a big key to the win. Shooting the puck and driving wide created some goals, that and those neutral ice hits, are nice to see.

Playing smart and organized in the defensive zone is how the game should be played and playing this way is the only way to have a very long season - we forgot and lost in OT 5-6 to the Riggers. Justin Lentz potted our 1st goal with JF Royer, Mik Mykietyshyn, Lyndon Maldaner and Bryce Kneller scoring as well. The assists went to Brad Dufresne, Fraser Oliver, Lyndon Maldaner, Mik Mykietyshyn and Pat O'Neill (2). Shots were 55-59, PP 2-11 and PK 6-8. The game was going the way we wanted, then we got a bunch of PP's that we didn't score on and we thought the game would be easy. So we played that way and that combined with a lack of focus, in our zone, took 2 points out of our hands.

The good guys took it on the chin 5-8 to the Chiefs. Our defencemen led us in the goal department with Connor McCreadie, Mitch Patter and Zac Laiss scoring, Pat O'Neill and Ryan Rosich got the others. Setting up the goals Bryce Obrigewitch, Mik Mykietyshyn (3), Altan Kudrinko, Fraser Oliver, JF Royer, Andy Fox, Pat O'Neill and Connor McCreadie. Shots 28-38, PP 3-7 and PK 3-3. Graham was a stud in net and we need to take care of things in front of him better.

Ouch 4-10 to Red Wings. Pat O'Neill scored 2 goals with Ryan Rosich and Bryce Obrigewitch the others. Assists to JF Royer, Connor Farquhar, Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Bryce Obrigewitch, Ryan Rosich, Zac Laiss and Bryce Kneller. Shots 28-40, PP 1-4 and PK 1-1. We didn't want to compete, in front of new goalie Brendan, as hard as we had in our last 2 games (especially the way we played in front of Bradles). Lets see what a week brings us and how healthy we can get.

A loss is still bad, even though we did some great things, as we let the Park win 4-6. Connor McCreadie scored 2 dandies with Bryce Kneller and Bryce Obrigewitch the others. Andy Fox, Mik Mykietyshyn, Pat O'Neill, Connor McCreadie and Ryan Rosich assisted the goals. Shots 24-38, PP 3-6 and PK 3-3. So Shuks gets players pushed on top off him and has to leave. Then to start the 3rd Morky gets blind sided with an elbow, as a guy skated through the crease. And this sets the stage for Bradles to come in and protect the net. You don't expect that kink of play from the Park, but I guess things change when you start taking non Park players on your team. Oh ya both the instigators played SSAC in their last year of midget and were never invited out to the Royal.

We came out focused and ready to play, we were rewarded with a 6-1 win out in the county over the Bruins. Andy Fox started the scoring on the PP, with Ryan Rosich, Brad Dufresne, Mik Mykietyshyn, Pat O'Neill and JF Royer. Assists to Connor McCreadie, Mik Mykietyshyn, Pat O'Neill (2), Tyler Heddle, Kevin (some how this 1st assist was missed by the ref) Bain, Bryce Kneller and Mitch Patter. Shots 38-35, PP 1-4 and PK 3-4. When we decide to talk to each other and not the other team or the ref, we will always be successful. Lots of skating, a little banging and some pretty sound d-zone play, kind of described the game. Lets keep building.

It's games like this that make the coaching and watching hockey suck 3-10 to the Hawks. Zac Laiss scored his 1st goal as a AP Royal to get things going in the 2nd period, then Bryce Kneller made it interesting. But we self destructed 4 minutes later and that was the game. Shawn Comrie scored our last goal, with assists on all the goals going to Bryce Kneller, Justin Lentz, Shawn Comrie, Connor Farquhar, Ryan Rosich and Ryan Mork. Shots 18-47, PP 1-10 and PK 4-8. I told the guys to bank the score in their memory, for the next 2 times we play these guys, and to park their lack of effort and a whole bunch or other negative things that we did or didn't do, at the dressing room door. Learn and get better.

We didn't play very hard but won an interesting game 6-5 in OT over the Jets. JF Royer scored his 1st hattrick as a Royal to pace our game, with Shaun Comrie, Ryan Rosich and Mik Mykietyshyn back dooring the game winner - on our 3rd 5 on 3 PP of the game (ya that's right). The assists went to Mik Mykietyshyn (3), Andy Fox, Pat O'Neill (2), Connor McCreadie (2), Shawn Comrie, Bryce Kneller and Taylor Shukalak with his 1st point as a Royal (I'm sure the 2 points the team earned were more important - ya that and he won the Belt). Shots 23-46, PP 2-8 and PK 3-3. There wasn't much intensity but there was some very smooth finish on our goal scoring opportunities. Some hi-lights and low lights - Winning, PP, Hattrick... Penalty Shot with 23 seconds to go, Receiving way to many head shots (from one player {#2}, Hitting a post and having it turn into a breakaway for the bad guys - and making the save. But the best was the 2 points and staying focused when it was way to easy to lose it.

We played hard and improved but lost 2-4 to the Merchants. Shawn Comrie was credited with both our goals with assists going to Ryan Rosich, Mik Mykietyshyn and Pat O'Neill. Shots 17-42, PP 1-5 and PK 1-2. We needed to up our compete level and did, which we needed to do, both for our team's growth and to play a strong St. Albert team. There were great battles all over the ice and I think our guys learned a valuable lesson in how hard we expect them to play. A couple of lucky Royalamainiacs went home with a smile and a new shirt. Yes there are plenty of Royalamainiacs in St. Albert, the Mayor even stopped by to wish us luck and talk over old hockey stories.

We let this one slip away 4-5 to the Bruins in overtime. Ryan Rosich lit the lamp 3 times for his 1st hattrick as a Royal, with Mik Mykietyshyn getting the other. Assisting the goals Tyler Heddle, Mik Mykietyshyn, Pat O'Neill (2), Fraser Oliver, Connor Farquhar, Bryce Kneller and Connor McCreadie. Shots 31-46, PP 2-7 and PK 6-7. We played pretty solid in the 1st then fell asleep for most of the 2nd till a few hits got us going. But we need to get into that every second counts habit. Things are looking up.

There were so many Royalamainiacs at the game and post game that the boys had no choice but to win and we did 4-1 over the Regals. The power play made it happen in the 1st period with Bryce Obrigewitch and Ryan Rosich scoring, then Pat O'Neill and Mik Mykietyshyn both into the empty net. Mik Mykietyshyn (2), Ryan Rosich, Connor McCreadie and Fraser Oliver set them up. Shots 56-27, PP 2-5 and PK 4-4. We skated and cycled and hit. Those are good things to watch. It was good to see one less set of crutches at the game.

Our trip to the north was a disappointing one as we lost 5-7 to the Warriors. Ryan Rosich scored 2 goals, while Bryce Kneller (his 1st as a Royal and a shorty to boot), Mik Mykietyshyn and Fraser Oliver (also his 1st). The assists went to Mik Mykietyshyn, Pat O'Neill, Bryce Obrigewitch, Fraser Oliver and Shawn Comrie. Shots 33-40, PP 1-6 and PK 3-4. We didn't play very good for the first 25 minutes then turned things on for the next 15, fell asleep for the next 10 and then finished hard. That doesn't sound like 60-60-60. We showed that we could do it, again, now we need that consistent effort for the whole game.

Wow, so this is what it's like to feel normal again. Sorry for the late updates, but this is the first time I've been out doing anything (other than hockey) since Wednesday.

Last night was far from the way we want to play hockey as we fall 1-4 to Stony Plain. JF Royer scored our only goal, from Bryce Obrigewitch and Connor Farquhar. Shots 20-41, PP 0-4 and PK 5-5. At least the PK is doing it's job. Royals Hockey needs a kick in the pants, no excuses for no effort, or individual effort. Team play and support but most importantly play hard, smart and for the guys you sit beside.

We made the trip out to Thorsby a successful one by scoring in OT to take the game 7-6 against the Riggers. We didn't need to give up the lead but the home town announcer needed something else to talk about, while the game was going on. Altan Kudrinko started the scoring, both the game and his Royals firsts, Ryan Rosich and Justin Lentz also with their Royals first, Pat O'Neill, Connor McCreadie, Mik Mykietyshyn and with the OT winning goal JF Royer. Our setup guys were Pat O'Neill (2), Mik Mykietyshyn, JF Royer, Bryce Kneller, Kayne Jagodzinsky, Shawn Comrie and Andy Fox. Shots 56-48, PP 14 and PK 5-6. This is the 3rd time a country team has taken us to an away site and the 3rd time we have earned the win. It would be nice to get some players back from injury instead of loosing another one...

Just when you think things are fixed, it turns out that they aren't. We lose 5-6 to Beaumont. JF Royer scored our first goal and Mitch Patter, Andy Fox (his 1st as a Royal), Pat O'Neill and Chad Coulombe the rest. Assists to Pat O'Neill (2), Chad Coulombe (3), Andy Fox, Shawn Comrie, JF Royer and Mik Mykietyshyn. Shots 34-39, PP 2-6 and PK 3-7. One step forward and two back, we are improving every day but keep shooting our feet. From what I hear the guys are already good dancers so there is no reason to do that.

The trip out to the Park did get the result we were planning on as we lost 2-8 to the Knights. Mik Mykietyshyn started our scoring and Chad Coulombe (1st Royals goal) got the other. Assists to Connor McCreadie, Mitch Patter, Pat O'Neill and Mik Mykietyshyn. Shots 38-49, PP 1-4 and PK 4-5. Effort and intensity come from within and the guys you sit beside. We need to listen to those guys.

A bunch of firsts took place in our 4-2 win over the Hawks. Shawn Comrie (first goal as a Royal) started the scoring, Mitch Patter with his first as a Royal and Bryce Obrigewitch
(2), rounded out the scoring. Assists to Connor McCreadie (2), Pat O'Neill, Ryan Rosich, JF Royer, Chad Coulombe (2) and Mik Mykietyshyn. Shots 30-35, PP 0-8 and PK 12-12. So we fixed one part of the special teams play, now lets correct the other. Taylor Shukalak was in the net and got his first win as a Royal. We are skating fast and showing up, that's Royals Hockey. The pucks will start to settle down and we will get faster.

We went out to Wetaskiwin and came back without the points as we fell 4-5 to the Icemen. Mik Mykietyshyn started off our season by scoring a sweet goal, then Pat O'Niell (2) got his 1st goals as a Royal and Bryce Obrigewitch finished the scoring. Assisting the goals Bryce Obrigewitch (2), Bryce Kneller, Fraser Oliver and Chad Coulombe. Shots 35-52, PP 0-5 and PK 5-9. That special teams information might be a clue. They brought everything at us for the first 10 minutes and we did well to keep things to the outside. Our game got stronger as the game continued, then the penalties got to us and the only thing we killed off easily was the 3 on 5. We played a bunch of Royals Hockey and will continue to get better.

Our trip to the Northside was a successful one on the scoreboard 6-3, as we outscored the Red Wings. We are starting to look more organized in most areas, but we can see the still see the confusion in some parts. The team is becoming a Team.

The old backhand shot sure helped get us out of our laziness and kickstarted a 5 goal 3rd period. The result was a 10-5 win over Leduc. We are starting to do more Royal things on the ice. There were no individual winners from the golf tournament, but the team prize went to the Royals. We had a great turnout at golf and the word from the bbq was 'fun', or at least that's what they told me.

Game 3 was the result we were looking for as we skated to a 8-7 overtime victory over the Mustangs. We were down 1-4 after 1st and 3-6 after 2nd but came back in the 3rd to take a 7-6 lead, only to give it up and come back to get the winner one minute into OT.

Game 2 didn't go as planned, on the score clock 2-9 to the Knights. We played a few more new guys and were not as organized as we wanted to be. We had a couple of guys really step up and made their teammates take notice.

The pre season opening game was a fast skating action packed 5-6 loss to the Mustangs. The team played hard, made some mistakes and took another step towards becoming the team we want to be.

Day 2 is in the books and things are moving on great. Now if we could only start skating on some hard ice. By the level of noise in the dressing room, after practice, we should have no trouble talking more on the ice.
