Royals Head Coaching Announcement

Club General Manager Alex Braunig has named Kyle Lambourne as the club's new Head Coach for the 2025-26 season. Kyle brings nineteen years of coaching experience at multiple levels of minor hockey and also has international experience as a coach in Poland for Opole HK of League One. Kyle also previously coached in the Capital Junior Hockey League for the Spruce Grove Regals, Beverly Warriors, Leduc Co-op Riggers and recently was an Associate Coach last season for the Edmonton Royals. Kyle replaces Dave Onyschuk who was the club's Head Coach since the 2023-24 season. Dave helped navigate the Royals to their first playoff birth since the 2020-21 season where they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Wetaskiwin Icemen.

Kyle brings a philosophy to coaching centered around accountability, a team first approach and the ideology of being the hardest working team on the ice. Kyle prides himself as a players coach and has the ultimate goal of moving players on to higher levels of hockey and ensuring that players continue to have the passion to play hockey or coach hocket at the end of their Junior careers.

Kyle has named General Manager Alex Braunig as part of his bench staff in an Assistant Coach role for the upcoming season. Kyle will name his other Assistant Coach closer to the start of the season.
