The Royals travelled to Sherwood Park after a week off to take on the Knights in a Friday night divisional matchup. The Royals skated to a 5-3 victory in Sherwood Park back on September 12th in the first meeting of the season.
Royals opened the scoring at the 10:14 mark of the first period when Jaxen Davison found open ice and buried his third of the season. Royals newcomer Nolan Schmit and Michael Borrelli get the assists. The Knights responded three minutes later when Reid Ashcroft buried an opportunity past Royals netminder Dawson Ringuette to make it 1-1. The Knights would add two more to make it 3-1 going into the first intermission.
Royals fell into penalty trouble in the second period and the Knights took advantage burying back-to-back power play goals to make it 5-1. Royals would get opportunities but couldn’t solve Knights goaltender Brandon Brok. Knights would add another to make it 6-1 at the end of the second period.
Royals got offensive production in the third period when Carson Devlin potted his fourth goal of the season. Jackson Krochak and Carter Brinkman would get the assists. Royals then scored another goal courtesy of defensemen Tyson Gray potting his first of the season to make it 8-3. Krochak would get his second assist and new Royals forward Brody Vik gets his first point in a Royals uniform. Knights would add another goal to make it 9-3.
Royals netminder Dawson Ringuette stopped 56 of 65 shots as his record falls to 1-3-0 on the season. Knights netminder Brandon Broks stops 29 of 32 shots in the win.
The Royals look to bounce back into the win column Sunday night as they travel to Fort Saskatchewan to take on the Hawks. Puck drop from the Jubilee Arena goes at 7:00 PM
