The Royals took to the ice Wednesday Night at Confederation Arena for the third of four meetings this season against the Sherwood Park Knights in an East Division matchup.
Owen Henkelman scored two goals and added an assist as the Sherwood Park Knights extended its winning streak to 13 games with a 7-1 decision over the Edmonton Royals.
Rounding out the scoring for the Sherwood Park Knights was Warner Fadish and Cohen Powell, Blake Davis, Kurtis Smith and Nico Hill each adding a goal. Goaltender Brandon Broks turned aside 41 shots for the Sherwood Park Knights in the win.
Scoring the lone goal for the Edmonton Royals was Jaxen Davison his seventh of the season on the power play. Ben Ankerman and Andrew Bender-Yantha added the helpers Goaltender Luke Kristiansen made 50 saves in the loss for the Royals. One of the few bright spots for the Royals was that the penalty kill went five of six, staying above 90% for the season which is third best in the league.
With the win, the Sherwood Park Knights improve to 13-1-0-0 while the Edmonton Royals fall to 5-10-0-2. The Royals look to get back in the win column Sunday night as they host the North Edmonton Red Wings in the first of a back-to-back series. Puck drop from Confederation Arena goes at 7:45 PM
